Dublin — There appears to be a plastic surgery boom among what a medical group here calls FAMS — 40- to 50-year-old Irish alpha males, Webwire.com reports.
The Harley Medical Group Ireland, the country’s leading cosmetic surgery provider, is reporting the following year-on-year percentage increases in FAM procedures: Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA, Allergan), 43 percent; microdermabrasion, 32 percent; facelifts, 16 percent; male breast reduction, 28 percent; blepharoplasty, 26 percent; and chinlifts, 38 percent.
Overall, the number of 40-plus men seeking Botox and other cosmetic procedures at the Harley Medical Group’s Dublin facility has increased by more than 300 percent over the past decade.
A Harley Medical group spokeswoman attributes the substantial increase to “the fact that many men want to stay looking young so that they can compete with their younger counterparts as competition for jobs becomes fiercer.”
