Patients with a timeless desire for glowing skin are continually seeking methods to achieve a more hydrated and healthier complexion. While polydioxanone (PDO) threads might not be initially thought of or traditionally associated with providing radiance to the skin, PDO does stimulate collagen production while increasing oxygenation to the tissue. Used primarily in aesthetics to reposition soft tissue giving a lifting effect, PDO had not been considered as a topical solution to produce glowing skin until now.

While PDO is completely metabolized by the body, it boasts a prolonged absorption duration during which skin texture is improved and brighter.

“This topical serum contains the benefi ts of PDO collagen stimulation and is the first of its kind, providing patients an innovative and less invasive way to achieve dewy, hydrated skin that everybody wants today,” explained Lanna Cheuck, DO, founder and chief executive offi cer of Dr. Lanna Aesthetics (New York, N.Y.).

For quick and accurate infusion of PDO AfterGlo, and other skin boosters, PDO Max offers Glowpin®, a multi-needle stimulator with an airless pump. “Glowpin creates microchannels, which allow the PDO AfterGlo serum to penetrate deeper while also creating an infl ammatory response that signals to your body to make more collagen. We often use Glowpin and PDO AfterGlo as an option for patients who want a natural skin glow and for patients who want tight, bright skin,” Dr. Cheuck added.

Innovations in Polydioxanone Technology Lead to New Skin Booster and Micro-InfuserAccording to Christina Delgado, FNP-BC and co-owner of Dr. Lanna Aesthetics (New York, N.Y.), their PDO AfterGlo facial with Glowpin has preventative and anti-aging benefi ts and improves skin texture, hydration, radiance and the appearance of fine lines. “When the skin barrier is compromised it appears quite fragile, less fi rm and dehydrated giving the appearance of aging, but when the skin is hydrated and collagen is boosted it has a bright, tight and dewy appearance,” she noted. “We infuse the PDO AfterGlo into the superficial layers of the skin utilizing the Glowpin, which has 19 small needles that create micro perforations in the skin to deliver the serum into the top layer. This combination of micro infusion with the micro injury response creates an amazing outcome in the skin’s appearance.

“PDO AfterGlo facials have become one of our top treatments within our bridal community,” Ms. Delgado continued. “We host bridal parties and off er treatments that combine the PDO AfterGlo with a toxin to prep the participants. It has become a huge hit, and our referral rate has increased tremendously.”

“The idea of regenerative and natural is so in right now,” shared Dr. Cheuck. “As a result, I have found a new subset of patients interested in procedures like PDO AfterGlo because it is a non-invasive skincare option, and providers do not need expensive equipment.” As patients become more aware of aesthetics and skin health, regenerative treatments appear to be poised as the future, with PDO AfterGlo and Glowpin leading the way.
