Skin Condition Guide

Article-Skin Condition Guide

Rosacea — Dr. Schlessinger says you should use very light products with very few, if any, chemicals. Avoid thick moisturizers on the face, as it can clog pores and cause acne breakouts. Dr. Torok suggests looking for products with anti-inflammatory ingredients. Try Neova Day Therapy or the Toleriane line of products.

Eczema and Psoriasis — Make sure to continually hydrate your skin by applying a heavy moisturizing cream and not a lotion. Lotions have alcohol and will inflame your skin. Avoid wool or lanolin clothes, and products with fragrances, preservatives and dyes. These will constantly irritate your skin. Use CeraVe to rebuild and repair the skin barrier.

Keratosis Pilaris or "Chicken Skin"— This is the unattractive, goose-bumpy skin that occurs when you have accumulated dead skin cells. It typically appears on the upper arms and feels rough. Use a product with glycolic acid, such as Glytone, to exfoliate and hydrate.
