While radiofrequency microneedling (RFMN) has become a popular treatment for skin rejuvenation in many aesthetic practices, the specialty is always looking for ways to improve safety, efficacy and comfort. Rising to the challenge, one innovative device is helping providers reach these goals without compromising shorter treatment times.
According to Larry Helwig, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Clearskin Institute of Laser Aesthetics and Phoenix Medical (Phoenix, Ariz.), Scarlet RF from Aesthetic Management Partners (Cordova, Tenn.) was designed to deliver more comfortable treatment with enhanced safety and treatment efficacy. “Scarlet RF uses a linear/robotic motor to drive the 25 needles smoothly into the tissue with less trauma, pain and downtime for the patient than the standard systems,” he explained.
Scarlet RF can be used to safely treat the face, neck and body for general signs of aging and laxity and is an ideal standalone treatment, according to Mr. Helwig. It is also gentle enough to use in combination with other aesthetic technologies to further customize treatments and enhance results.
Mr. Helwig often uses Scarlet RF to target middle-aged patient concerns, including fine lines, redness and lower face laxity. “I do two passes at Mode 2 and 1.0 mm - 1.8 mm depth with a power setting of five to seven, depending on the patient’s Fitzpatrick skin type. After treating with two passes, I focus on the patient’s problem areas by doing two more passes using the stretch/stamp technique to enhance the results.”
Minimal Trauma, Maximum Results
“The ultrafine microneedles delicately penetrate skin to create micro-channels without causing excessive surface trauma,” reported Sacha Cesar, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, from Secrets Aesthetics and Wellness Center (Orlando, Fla.). “These micro-channels activate the skin’s natural healing response to promote collagen and elastin production. More importantly, Scarlet RF allows me to precisely customize settings based on our clients’ needs by adjusting needle depth for specific areas.
“For clients seeking skin tightening and lifting with Scarlet RF, our gold-standard protocol involves gently guiding and treating the skin in the desired direction of lift,” Ms. Cesar continued. “This approach creates a firm anchor deep within the dermis, encouraging the skin to heal in a specific manner. Often, the benefits of this technique are visible immediately post-treatment, with results that continue to improve over time. The most noticeable benefit is that this device can treat all skin types and tones, and it delivers results regardless of the client’s age.”
A Smooth, Comfortable Treatment
Elizabeth White, FNP-BC, at Restore Medical Spa (Albuquerque, N.M.) agrees the robotic motor in the Scarlet SRF delivers a smooth and consistent treatment and uses her device to treat skin laxity, enlarged pores, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks. “We recommend a treatment series to achieve the best results dependent upon the patient’s concerns and skin evaluation. We incorporate EXO|E, D|TOX and RE|PAIR plant-based exosomes to prep the skin, improve pre- and post-procedure hydration and promote healing. Patients often see results after the initial treatment.”
For providers who want to offer their patients more comfort, Scarlet RF provides a smooth RFMN experience that can be customized with ease. “Scarlet RF results are also noticeable to our clients’ friends and family members and result in more referrals. This device has been the most requested new addition to our practice,” concluded Ms. White.
