Nonsurgical body contouring is a popular option for patients who prefer to avoid going under the knife. Advancements in the specialty have produced numerous technologies to enhance body sculpting treatments, such as radiofrequency (RF) to reduce fat and electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to improve muscle tone. A new device combines these technologies and more into one, allowing providers to create targeted and effective body shaping protocols.
eMVFit® from Weero Co. Ltd. (Anyang, South Korea) includes RF, EMS, vacuum and cooling technologies. The modalities enable it to selectively heat and destroy fat cells, promote lymphatic drainage, stimulate muscle hypertrophy and even improve skin elasticity to transform the way body sculpting is offered and performed. According to Kyungtae Bae, MD, cosmetic surgeon and chief director of “It’s Me” Clinic in Sejong, South Korea, eMVFit helps to reduce fat with RF energy by selectively destroying the membranes of fat cells and converting the fatty acids that are released into energy or excreting them through the lymphatic system.
“As fat cells are destroyed and naturally eliminated from the body, abdominal circumference decreases and the contour of the body becomes more defined,” Dr. Bae explained. “RF also stimulates collagen production, improves skin elasticity and gives the skin a firmer, more youthful appearance.” Vacuum technology improves lymphatic circulation, he added, while the EMS technology employs low-frequency energy of up to 2,000 Hz to deliver as many as 2,000 muscle contractions/relaxations per second.
Notably, eMVFit is designed to be easy to use. The device offers eight handpieces that can be used simultaneously to personalize treatment for patients with a variety of body types. In a study of patients from 28 to 50 years of age, 20 patients underwent 16 treatments for 30 minutes each, twice a week for eight weeks. At one month post treatment, ultrasound showed increased thickness of the rectus abdominis tissue by an average of 0.72 cm, while abdominal fat thickness decreased an average of 1.28 cm.1
Dr. Bae maximizes the device’s synergistic effects by combining eMVFit with other treatments to customize his approach and optimize results for each patient. His base treatment program includes eMVFit treatments once or twice a week for a total of four to 12 weeks. “We customize treatments, as well,” he commented. “For example, for patients who want to focus on fat reduction, we will use the eMVFit handpiece that combines RF and vacuum and may combine it with treatments such as HIFU, lipolysis injections, medication and dietary education. For patients who want to focus on muscle gain, we use the intensive treatment of eMVFit’s EMS handpiece and may use a magnetic pulse device as an auxiliary treatment along with fluid therapy and dietary education.
“Patients report noticeable fat reduction and a more defined silhouette, along with smoother skin texture and increased skin firmness and elasticity,” concluded Dr. Bae.
eMVFit treatments are comfortable with no downtime, making the device an ideal body contouring solution to complement aesthetic practices that cater to a busy, modern lifestyle.
