Richmond, Va. — Venture Specialty Insurance and Markel Insurance, both based here, have launched a website offering prospective plastic surgery patients coverage against complications following elective procedures.

According to PRNewswire, https://www.insuremysurgery.com/ is the only such insurance program offered directly to patients.

Users of the new website can enroll online and select an appropriate plan. In the event of a complication, patients can download policy and claim forms directly from the website. INSUREmySURGERY then works with the physician and hospital to facilitate the claim payment based on the patient’s chosen plan.

Coverage will be governed by the terms and conditions of the issued insurance policy. Covered complications must take place within 30 days of the date of elective surgery.

The program is currently available in Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Oregon and Utah.
