Miami Gardens, Fla. — Police have arrested a 30-year-old Florida woman on charges that she injected a Miami Gardens woman six times with a near-lethal mixture of cement, mineral oil and other foreign substances to enhance her buttocks, the Miami Herald reports.
Oneal Ron Morris, 30, who police say was born male and identifies as a woman, was charged with practicing healthcare without a license, causing serious bodily injury. She is accused of administering the mixture through a tube hooked to a cooler. The woman undergoing the procedure subsequently fell ill with pneumonia-like symptoms and painful welts. She suffered permanent scarring around the injection sites and required several blood transfusions, multiple surgeries and around-the-clock home care, the Herald reports.
The Florida Department of Health says laboratory analysis determined that the foreign substances injected consisted of a host of household and automotive products, including Fix-A-Flat and mineral oil. Ms. Morris allegedly sealed her work with Super Glue.
Police suspect that the accused is part of a network of scam artists who prey on people who want to change their appearance but cannot afford traditional cosmetic surgery.
Ms. Morris was released on $15,000 bond. Publicity surrounding her arrest has motivated others to contact police with reports that they also were victims of such a procedure, though it is unclear whether Ms. Morris was involved in any of those incidents.
