Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling has earned a reputation in aesthetics as a go-to treatment for skin rejuvenation, while plasma technology is recognized as a next-level skin revitalization treatment. HIRONIC (South Korea) has combined the two technologies into their latest device, leading the way for providers to offer multiple treatments with one convenient platform.

Silkro™ RF Microneedling Platform with Plasma is a unique and versatile solution that harnesses the power of RF microneedling and plasma technologies to achieve optimal skin rejuvenation. Linda Behla, RN, founder of Hayes Valley Medical Esthetics (HVME) in San Francisco, Calif., and medical director Yngvar Hvistendahl, MD, have replaced their previous RF microneedling system with Silkro thanks to the increased customizability, speed and efficiency available with the device, as well as treatment safety and efficacy.

“Silkro protocols for microneedling and plasma treatments are designed to optimize skin rejuvenation by combining the benefits of both technologies,” reported Ms. Behla. “The plasma treatments stimulate collagen production to tighten skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and skin irregularities. It also has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to effectively treat acne and promote overall skin health. This non-invasive treatment is suitable for all skin types and offers long-lasting results with minimal downtime while providing a superior glow to the skin,” she noted.

Developed by leading medical device manufacturer HIRONIC, The Silkro RF Microneedling Platform with Plasma stimulates the body’s healing response first via RF microneedling. RF energy is then used to induce plasma energy to deliver heat deep into the skin, stimulating increased collagen and elastin production and promoting tissue regeneration. Ms. Behla uses Silkro in her practice to address a range of skin concerns, including acne scars, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, skin elasticity, enlarged pores, texture issues, skin discoloration and skin laxity.

Combining these technologies is an innovative approach that allows them to work synergistically, creating a highly effective skin rejuvenation treatment. “After conducting a thorough skin assessment regarding the patient’s concerns and skin type, HVME will either pretreat with topicals for two to four weeks to maximize results or add medical-grade skincare,” shared Ms. Behla. “I recommend that clients follow a gentle skincare routine and avoid retinoids, acids and other potentially irritating ingredients for at least three to five days before the treatment.

“For Silkro microneedling, we adjust the settings based on the area being treated and the severity of the skin concern,” she continued. “We immediately follow with a plasma treatment using appropriate intensity and mode based on the client’s skin type and the treatment goal. This treatment can be adjusted to deliver thermal or non-thermal effects, depending on the desired outcome. Next, we apply a soothing and hydrating mask or serum to calm the skin. The client may experience mild redness and swelling, usually subsiding within a few hours to a couple of days.”

Thanks to HIRONIC’s cutting-edge technology, providers can have greater control over treatment outcomes. By combining the advanced technologies of RF, microneedling and plasma into one innovative device, Silkro RF Microneedling Platform with Plasma allows providers an unparalleled experience to elevate their aesthetic practices.
