More highlights from the AACS 2006 Consumer Perception Survey included:

  • Among consumers reporting that they had disposable income, 46 percent said they would forego an expensive vacation or luxury car to pay for cosmetic surgery.
  • About 12 percent of the men surveyed believe they will have cosmetic surgery at some point in the future.
  • The two most desirable celebrity features were Jennifer Aniston's eyes for women (46 percent) and Nick Lachey's abs for men (51 percent).
  • Only 2 percent reported that their cosmetic surgery decisions were influenced by Hollywood, the media or television.
  • About 20 percent of consumers said they were unclear on what a cosmetic surgeon is and only about half knew the difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon.
