According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons latest figures (2005), blepharoplasty was fourth in the top five cosmetic surgical procedures with 230,697 procedures performed, down 1 percent from 2004. Blepharoplasty was the fourth most common surgical procedure for women (down 1 percent from 2004) and men (up 1 percent from 2004). Incidence of the procedure increased by 6 percent in those 18 or younger; decreased by 2 percent for those ages 19 to 50; and increased 1 percent for those 51 and older. It was one of the top three cosmetic procedures requested by Asian Americans. |
