Chicago — Gerald Edds, M.D., is the new president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Edds was officially inducted at the Chicago-based academy’s 28th Annual Scientific Meeting, held recently in Las Vegas.
A 25-year veteran specialist in cosmetic breast surgery, liposuction and facial cosmetic surgery, Dr. Edds is triple-board-certified with the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He practices in Owensboro, Ky., and is assistant clinical professor of surgery at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
“To be elected president of the leading organization for cosmetic surgeons worldwide is an incredible honor,” Dr. Edds said in an AACS statement. “The AACS remains the trusted source for the highest-quality training and continuing medical educations for doctors practicing cosmetic surgery. We will continue to set the standard in these areas and expand our presence internationally.”
The academy announced its highest attendance in history, with more than 700 medical professionals attending the annual meeting Jan. 18-21 in Las Vegas.
