To kick off the first edition, we are featuring Tara Brown, MD, an ophthalmologist at Opulence Med Spa in La Jolla, Calif. She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and specializes in neurotoxin injections, dermal fillers, microneedling, professional plasma energy treatments, body contouring, medical grade chemical peels, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) based facials and hair rejuvenation, facial capillary removal and eyelid rejuvenation surgeries.
TAG: Dr. Brown, congratulations on being featured in the first-ever TAG VIP Practice Spotlight. We understand you specialize in minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. So, what are the top five treatments in your practice in order of highest to lowest?
Filler
Neurotoxin
Broadband light (BBL)
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling
Body contouring
TAG: Do you see this changing over the next five years, why?
Yes, I do. I believe that the dermal filler market will continue to increase as more, and better, varieties become available.
TAG: Where do you see your practice as having improved the most in the last five years?
Well, we focus on continually expanding our treatment offerings to ensure we are up to date on technology advances and staying competitive. We bring in a new device every year and we broaden our injectable offerings whenever a new product meets our standards.
TAG: What do you think makes your practice unique?
I think it is our steadfast commitment to staying current on technology and treatments to ensure delivery of superior experiences and outcomes to our patients. We evaluate new device and injectable technologies every year. If a new product meets our high standards, we train until we are the best provider available on the market.
TAG: How has your practice furthered the advancement of aesthetic medicine?
I treat many breast cancer survivors. I specialize in post-chemo facial rejuvenation and post-mastectomy contouring with Sculptra (Galderma) and Nucleoskin (Promoitalia), which is another collagen boosting filler. The latter is a specialty I have created based on my own mastectomy experience. Restoring a smooth, natural breast contour after breast cancer treatment is a real confidence booster and almost no one else offers it. I treat survivors for free during October and I do an annual fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
