Dubai, United Arab Emirates — Construction has begun on the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) Hospital in Dubai Healthcare City.

The AACS partnered with Dubai Healthcare City to work on the creation of a state-of-the-art facility, poised, according to the Academy, to become one of the world's leading centers for cosmetic surgery. The AACS Hospital will include a cosmetic surgery hospital and academic facilities. Construction is scheduled for completion the middle of next year.

The first big, international event for the hospital will be the World Congress on Liposuction in 2007.

"The World Congress of Liposuction is a leading-edge event that is attended by international leaders who share techniques and advances in liposuction procedures and technology," says Jeffrey Knezovich, executive vice president of AACS. "We believe that this region will be the focal point of cosmetic surgery in the future. Dubai, with this new medical hub at Dubai Healthcare City, is the natural choice for the meeting."
