Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a popular treatment used by many dermatologists to stimulate tissue remodeling for skin rejuvenation and hair restoration. With over 20 years of experience, dermatologist Wendy Roberts, MD (Rancho Mirage, Calif.), finds PRP to be an excellent tool for prevention and prejuvenation of the scalp and body.

RegenLab has revolutionized the PRP space by providing automation, consistency and company excellence,” Dr. Roberts reported. “They also have stellar onsite support for practices who are just getting started.”

Before and after two sessions of PRP and supplementation from the RegenKit Photos courtesy of RegenLabRegenLab (Brooklyn, N.Y.) offers FDA-cleared devices manufactured in the U.S. that provide dermatologists with more versatility and flexibility to tailor treatments to match patient goals.

Dr. Roberts shared that her favorite applications of PRP include the scalp to address hair loss, the décolleté to address photodamage, and the neck. She recommends beginning these treatments by 30 years old.

Hair treatments are Dr. Robert’s forte and where PRP can really shine. “We saw firsthand how hair loss cases soared in numbers during the pandemic, and with RegenLab, my hair practice benefitted as we were able to perform more cases on a daily basis,” Dr. Roberts explained. “PRP helps delay the onset of age-related hair loss, while increasing shine and texture, and thickenening the hair. I also use PRP for facial rejuvenation and if appropriate, I can do a scalp and face case in the same session.

“To address photodamage and textural laxity I first do a heavy microdermabrasion followed by microneedling PRP,” Dr. Roberts continued. “This marries well with Botox (Allergan, an AbbVie Company) to address the pre-sternal fine rhytides. I recommend two sessions minimum and every six months to both maintain and rejuvenate this area.” She added that she uses PRP in combination with energy-based devices, fillers and toxins, as many of these combination procedures can be performed on the same day.

RegenLab devices allow for the standardized preparation of PRP, as well as platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM). The RegenKit® comes in both 10 mL and 20 mL op- tions with flexible concentrations and high platelet recovery to utilize in various applications.

“With RegenLab’s new 20 mL tube and 12 mL yield I can expand my services in one patient with one draw, which allows me to better tailor my service for each patient,” Dr. Roberts reported. “The kit makes the blood draw quick and seamless. The centrifugation is also quick, so you are able to perform back-to-back cases if you desire. Once your patient truly understands the power of PRP they want to do it everywhere.”

“Prejuvenation of hair and skin with PRP is a homerun that keeps your patients in the game forever,” exclaimed Dr. Roberts. With RegenLab’s technology and RegenKit, physicians can streamline their PRP treatments, while addressing a wide array of patient concerns, which will enhance any aesthetic practice.
