When the founders of the Aesthetic Multispecialty Society (AMS) set out to build a global scientific association, they had no idea it would grow to more than 30,000 members in just four years.
But what they did know is that they had a very specific vision.
“When the AMS was created back in April of 2020, the initial positioning was to build a worldwide organization that really emphasized scientific research and evidence-based practices,” recalled Suneel Chilukuri, MD, a dermatologic surgeon in Houston, Texas, and co-chair of the AMS North American Scientific Committee. “We wanted it to be open to all medical and aesthetic professionals and bridge the gap between current medical education and the most innovative practices from around the world.”
At its inception, the AMS was designed to be centered around four core values: expertise, excellence, evidence-based practice and engagement.
“Since then, we have seen the aesthetic community really embrace the concept and create a flywheel that just continued to grow the organization organically and exponentially,” Dr. Chilukuri explained.
Today, this society is the world’s largest scientific community and online library of medical aesthetics and anti-aging education – offering continuing education, connections and resources. Its mission is to ensure quality and fostering community that accommodates a variety of learning styles, while democratizing premium content.
Ensuring Quality
One way the AMS safeguards the caliber of the content under its auspices is with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practices – essential in the study of aesthetics and anti-aging medicine.
“First and foremost, the AMS is a scientific association,” noted Dr. Chilukuri. “We support the improvement of aesthetic practices through scientific research and evidence-based approaches. Nothing else will do.”
Underpinning this mission, the highly acclaimed AMS Scientific Committees and ambassadors consist of leading physicians in various specialties, all experts in medical aesthetics and antiaging medicine.
“These dedicated professionals have spent their careers educating practitioners through university programs, seminars and conferences,” shared Dr. Chilukuri. “Their expertise ensures that we provide top-quality content to our members.”
Fostering Community
With tens of thousands of aesthetic and antiaging professionals from 175 countries already on the platform, the AMS is a natural gathering place for members from a variety of disciplines – from aesthetic surgery to dermatology to antiaging medicine and everything in between.
“The AMS platform encourages active participation, promoting skill development through reflection and academic discussion,” said Sheila Barbarino, MD, a cosmetic surgeon with practices in Redondo Beach, Calif. and Austin, Texas, and the co-chair of the AMS North American Scientific Committee. “Plus, it is just a friendly way to connect with like-minded people who are as invested in quality and learning as you are.”
Accommodating a Variety of Learning Styles
Recognizing that lifelong learners are not one-size-fits-all, the AMS caters to a spectrum of learning styles – from videos to articles to peer-to-peer knowledge exchange – as well as learning formats – from online delivery to in-person events.
“The AMS is the official Scientific Committee that supervises most leading international events in the sector – including Vegas Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetic Dermatology, The Aesthetic Show and several of the AMWC brand shows,” shared Dr. Barbarino.
Online and in-person content includes treatment and product demonstrations, unscripted conference footage and exclusive workshops showcasing the latest techniques and product launches.
Categories include:
• Body shaping
• Facial injectables and injections
• Lasers and energy-based devices
• Preventive and anti-aging medicine
• Suspension threads
• Stem cell therapy, regenerative and fat grafting
• Clinical dermatology and dermatologic surgery
• Cosmeceuticals and topical therapies

Democratizing Premium Content
Another benefit to the industry is that the AMS model is inclusive and lowers the barriers to top-notch education and access to innovation and trends. The online delivery method means that anyone can access the pearls and expertise of global Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and real-life experience anywhere at any time.
“The AMS at its core allows all medical aesthetic practitioners to gather for education and knowledge sharing to improve techniques and practices in aesthetic medicine and surgery around the world,” explained Dr. Barbarino. “Plus, the AMS includes world-renowned specialists eager to share their knowledge.”
KOLs share on a variety of topics – the lineup is broad and deep. Here are just a few examples:
• Clinical Pearls for Optimizing Safety in Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty
•Defying Skin Aging Through Every Cutaneous Layer
